Cyprus Rugby is proud to announce that we will be joining Team Cyprus for the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) which will be held in Valetta, Malta from 28 May to 3 June 2023. We will be joined by eight other participating countries: Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, and San Marino. At least a thousand athletes will be actively involved. The sports included are athletics, basketball, judo, rugby 7s, sailing, shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis and tennis.
Our Mighty Mouflons will join up with Team Cyprus and travel to Malta together. Our 7s team will be sporting a new kit specifically designed for these games, which incorporates the Cyprus flag in the design.
Rugby 7s games are due to be played on 31 May and 2 June. The draws have not yet been made but we will endeavour to keep you up to date. Keep checking back here as we will update this article.
We will announce the travelling squad as soon as we have final confirmation. Team Manager Dave Lee, Technical Director Rick Wadmore and our own team physio Rafael Alexandrou will also travel with the squad as part of Team Cyprus.
We’ll be debuting our new 7s logo too. As you can tell, we are super proud to be representing our country. No one will have to ask “what team is that?”. 😊
